Funlayo Deri to Celebrate the Female Form at Africa Fashion Week New York

NEW YORK, NY – June 2011 – Adirée is pleased to announce that Funlayo Deri will charm the runway at Africa Fashion Week (New York) (AFWNY). AFWNY is set to take place on July 14th, 15th and 16th at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City’s financial district.

The Funlayo Deri woman is confident, sophisticated, with refined taste. Deri’s aesthetic is influenced by her cultural experiences and exposure. She believes that clothes should be glamorous but not taken excessively serious. Her pieces are luxurious and wearable while celebrating the female form and emphasizing curves.

Funlayo Deri’s collection will showcase Saturday, July 16th.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase.

About Funmilayo Csilla Deri
Funmilayo Csilla Deri was born in Nigeria and based in London/Budapest. Deri was introduced to fashion from a tender age, designing and sewing garments with her mother. After earning a degree in International Business and working as a manager at a private bank in Switzerland, Deri decided to drastically change her career and pursue fashion. She went on to study at the renowned Istituto Marangoni in London, where she combined her passions for fashion and business. In March 2011 she launched her eponymous fashion label Funlayo Deri.
