… Crew arrives and Schedule released.
With the Crew already in town to reconstruct the expo hall of Eko Hotel to look like the Broadway theatre in New York, FELA! is one show Lagos will not recover from in a long time.
The lengthy journey of the show in Lagos will begin on April 14 with a concert version of the show by the original cast of FELA! at the African Shrine. The cast insists on paying homage to the subject of this award-winning musical, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and to his family at Fela’s spiritual home, the New Africa Shrine.

On April 17 a strictly by invitation welcome reception will be held for cast and crew of FELA! at Eko Hotel. To the delight of many, the public will be treated to an Afro Beat Concert at a yet to be disclosed venue on April 18th. Beeta Oragnisation (cinema-advocacy organization) in collaboration with the Broadway will on April 19th be holding breakfast secession with talk based on propagating the cinema culture in Nigeria.
The show proper will start from April 20th with a red carpet event at the prestigious Eko Hotel and will run till April 25th. Attracting 2500 guests per show, FELA! will in all be showing 8 times with 2 shows on Easter Sunday and on Easter Monday.
With sponsors from bigwig brands like Lagos State Government, Skye Bank, Sterling Bank, Chicken Republic, Quintessentially, Greygoose, Smooth 98.1 FM, Cool FM, Wazobia FM, M-Net, Jack Daniels, Playboy Energy Drinks and more, FELA! is indeed in a class of its own.
The online sales of tickets for the show is a novel innovation from the Broadway crew, becauses being able to buy and print your tickets online and at the same time choose your seat number makes things a lot easier for the guests. To prove that Lagosians are highly expectant of the show, Broadway officials testify that ticket sales has been awesome.

FELA!, an original Broadway musical produced by Shawn ‘JayZ’ Carter and Will Smith and directed by Bill T. Jones tells the true story of the legendary Nigerian musician whose soulful Afrobeat rhythms and cutting lyrics ignited the spirit of empowerment and cultural awareness in a generation.
Lagos’ FELA! experience will be wrapped up with a farewell party hosted by Quintessentially on April 26th.
