AFRICA’S NO 1 RAPPER STORMS LONDON'S O2

‘MTV Award Winner & BET Awards Best International Act Nominee "Mr Incredible" MI Premiers MI2 The Movie Album at the Indigo2 28th April 2011’.

M.I is performing live at the Indigo2 in his first ever UK concert titled “MI2 The Movie Album Launch”. M.I is not invading London alone he’s coming with equally epic label mates Jesse Jagz(Jargo), Ice Prince ( 2010/2011 monster hit- Oleku), Soul Singer Waje ( Kolo) and a new addition to the Chocolate City label, Brymo.

The show will also feature live performances from London
based brothers and duo 2Kriss (who will be performing their debut single L.O.V.E.). Powered by Cokobar- the UK’s biggest African music promoters C.E.O. and founder Mr Ropo Akin states: “We bring the best of Africa to the world and MI is arguably the biggest African Hip-hop star who we believe can hold his own against any of his international counterparts”.

Born Jude Abaga, M.I’s rise has being a long time coming. M.I's encounter with Hip-Hop started with sampling the works of DMX and Lauryn Hill in 1998. He later delved into writing poetry. In 1999, M.I left for Calvin College, Michigan, USA to pursue a degree in business and economics. There he interacted with the budding Michigan hip-hop community. He performed at all major hip-hop and R&B shows, concerts in school, and later came third in the Calvin College “Hip Hopera” 2003.

Signed to Chocolate city Record, a renowned music label in Nigeria; M.I has received international recognition in South Africa from the popular Channel O Music Awards, MTV Base Awards and also the American BET Awards. To most people Jude Abaga is known as the best lyricist Africa has seen. A prolific producer, lyricist, songwriter and instrumentalist, M.I has been described among other things the future of African Hip-Hop. M.I plays downs any similarities in styles drawn to renowned rapper Kanye West and simply states that West is an artist that inspires his music: “I get influences from a lot people, Kanye West is one of the people that inspires my music”. M.I’S latest work, MI2 The Movie is one of the biggest albums in Nigerian pop culture and has been tagged with one descriptive word-EPIC!

MI2 The Movie has broken new heights since its release in November 2010, exceeding 10 Million in sales, making him the highest selling Nigerian artist to date. Other accolades have come in form of numerous awards and nominations and to his credit M.I was twitters no 7 global trending topic on the week of the album release. Head of the hottest crew in Nigerian music, ‘Choc Boiz’ and being a unique combination of mind-blowing genius and exceptional lyrical deliverance, M.I is like no other.

Expect an EPIC night at the IndigO2 on Thursday 28th April 2011. The Royal weekend, is royal not only because Wills and Kate are getting married, it is also Royal because this will be the first time a well known and established African artist of M.I’s calibre will premier their album on a phenomenally international scale. With indications from his 50,000 plus twitter followers, history will be made as we see the unveiling of Africa’s Hip-hop Royalty, so make sure you are there to be part of history!
