Now being Young, Gifted & Black is even more stylish!

The launch of the new range comes just two days after Channel O’s most high-profile event of the year – the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards which take place at Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday 4 November. The awards – being broadcast live for the first time on Channel O – reward the most gifted African acts currently plying their trade in the music industry.

Says Nkateko Mabaso, Marketing Manager: Special Interests at M-Net, “Channel O has always been the most proudly African channel available to entertainment fans across the continent and we’re really pleased to have worked with Head Honcho in creating this really outstanding clothing range.

“Lifestyle – and especially fashion – is increasingly important to our viewers. It made sense to create a line of clothing that gives young Africans the chance to identify with the Young, Gifted and Black campaign we have been running for well over a year now.”

Owner Nick Kaoma says the tie-in with Channel O is important for Head Honcho, which is aiming to grow from a recognised “cool” label into a fully-fledged powerhouse and inspirational youth brand.

“The collaboration with Channel O, one of the biggest youth brands on the continent, is a step in the direction that we are already heading in,” says Kaoma.

“The YGB line gives Head Honcho and Channel O the opportunity to reinforce our respective mantras – “Live Progressively” and “Original African” – through quality and well-designed apparel that resonates with young people.”

Created as a real collaboration between Head Honcho and the Channel O team, the YGB range reflects the ambition of its wearers who work ceaselessly to achieve their goals but never at the expense of losing their youthful energy. Colourful, funky and edgy, the YGB range is always proudly African.

The YGB line will initially be available at Shesha stores in The Zone, Eastgate, The Glen, Melrose Arch, Menlyn Park (Pretoria) and Canal Walk (Cape Town). Consumers can look forward to the range being rolled out to more stores across the county in the next few months.
